How to Stay Top of Mind Without Feeling Pushy

If you’re anything like us, the phrase “stay top of mind” might make you wince a little. Sure, we want to stay visible and relevant to our audience—but nobody wants to be that brand that pops up so often it feels more like an interruption than a connection. (We’re in the business of building relationships, not annoying people.)

The good news? You can absolutely stay top of mind without being pushy or overwhelming. Here’s how we approach it—and how you can, too.

1. Show up consistently (but not constantly)

There’s a big difference between being consistent and being everywhere all the time. The key is to show up on the platforms your audience already loves, at a pace that’s sustainable for you—and respectful of their time.

Consider:

  • Posting on social media 2–4 times a week instead of daily
  • Sending a monthly newsletter instead of weekly blasts
  • Showing up with quality content, not just quantity for quantity’s sake

Consistency builds trust. And trust is the long game.

2. Give more than you ask

We’ve all seen brands that only pop into our inbox or feed when they want us to buy something. (Yikes.) Flip that script by focusing on how you can serve your audience first.

Think:

  • Share tips, resources, or insights that solve a real problem
  • Celebrate your clients or community
  • Offer free value—whether it’s advice, a template, or just a behind-the-scenes peek into your workday

When you give generously, people naturally want to stick around.

3. Let your personality shine

People remember people—not logos. So don’t be afraid to infuse a little you into your marketing. Whether you’re a solo business owner or a full team, showing the human side of your brand makes you more memorable.

You could:

  • Share photos of your team in action (or doing something fun)
  • Talk about lessons you’ve learned along the way
  • Write captions and blog posts that sound like how you actually talk (not how you think “a brand” should talk)

Don’t be afraid to sprinkle in gifs, personal anecdotes, or the occasional coffee-fueled brainstorm session. Because guess what? Your customers and clients are real people too.

4. Stay curious about your audience

The best way to stay top of mind without guessing what your audience wants? Ask them.

  • Use polls or questions in your social media stories
  • Send a short survey to your email list
  • Pay attention to the comments, DMs, and questions you get

When you tailor your content to what people are already asking about, it feels relevant—not random.

5. Focus on relationships, not transactions

This one is simple, but powerful. Relationships over sales. Always.

Check in just to check in. Congratulate your clients on their wins (even if they aren’t working with you at the moment). Comment on their posts. Refer opportunities their way.

When you build genuine connections, staying top of mind happens naturally—and it feels good for everyone.

If you’re coming from a place of service, curiosity, and authenticity, you’re not being pushy. You’re showing up for your people—and that’s what marketing is really about.
